Stock Ageing and Slow-moving Inventory in TallyPrime
Stock quantity alone does not show whether inventory is healthy. Ageing and movement analysis help identify quantities that have remained unsold for too long or are moving much slower than expected.
What to look for
- Old stock in long ageing slabs
- Low outward movement
- Expired or near-expiry batches
- High value tied up in low-movement items
Operational action
Ageing results can inform purchasing controls, discount decisions, stock transfers and write-off review.
Interpret in context
Some strategic or seasonal items are intentionally slow moving. The report should support a business decision, not automatically classify every old item as obsolete.
